Thousands Left Without Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms

Nearly 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the state, bringing wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Destruction

Locals reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7 centimeters in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams deployed to manage the widespread outages.

Southern State's Weather Woes

At the same time, approximately one thousand energy customers in the southern state also experienced power outages after the capital city saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations received 598 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Climate Outlook

Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with continued storm activity predicted across different parts of both regions.

Health officials alerted that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
